Passenger throws soda in Sun Tran driver’s face

On December 30, 2014, at approximately 5:35 p.m., Pima County deputies responded to an assault at Ajo Way and Palo Verde Road. When deputies arrived, they learned that a man and women got on a Sun Tran bus at Grant and Alvernon and had problems with their bus pass.

A verbal confrontation with the bus driver ensued. The bus driver told the male and female to get off the bus due to their inappropriate behavior. Instead they moved to the rear of the bus, sat down, and remained quiet. When they reached their stop, the female got off at the rear of the bus and the male moved forward to get off in front. Before he got off the bus, he turned and threw soda into the bus driver’s face.

Detectives from the Sheriff’s Department Robbery/Assault Unit are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect. Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to call 9-1-1 or 88-CRIME.
