MCSO deputies seize over $1 mil in pot

Nearly a ton of marijuana with a street value of over $1 million was seized late last night by Maricopa County Sheriff’s deputies near Highway 238 in Mobile, Arizona, about 32 miles from downtown Phoenix.

The Maricopa County Drug Suppression Task Force seized the drugs after they observed a set of fresh tire tracks in a well known smuggling area. Deputies tracked the GMC pickup truck for approximately 10 miles where they ultimately located a truck with the marijuana underneath a palo verde tree. The suspects fled on foot after
deputies suspect they were tipped off by drug spotters.

The 80 bundles of marijuana had a combined weight of 2094.5 pounds. The precise street value of the marijuana is $1,047,250.

In this last month, Maricopa County Sheriff’s deputies have seized nearly two tons of marijuana.
