Scottsdale pharmacist and wife arrested for illegal drug sales

On Monday,  Scottsdale PD Narcotics detectives arrested Steve and Mary Weber of Scottsdale for multiple drug possession charges. An investigation began 6 months ago after detectives learned of a possible fraud scheme involving illegal sales and distribution of Oxycodone out of the suspects’ business.

Steve Weber is the pharmacist and owner of Sun Drugs located at 10810 E. Via Linda. His wife Mary, served as the accountant of the business.

Allegedly Weber would accept prescriptions for Oxycodone in return for cash payments. Weber acknowledged that he knew some of the prescriptions were fraudulent. During the investigation it was learned that the annual sales of Oxycodone at this pharmacy were double the average sales of other area pharmacies.

Search warrants have been served on the suspects’ business and home located in the area of 12300 E. Poinsettia in which $20,000 in cash was recovered along with 10,000 Oxycodone pills.

Steve and Mary Weber were both booked on multiple drug possession counts and likely will face additional charges for illegal sales of prescription drugs along with fraud schemes. As the investigation continues additional suspects may be identified.
