On August 18, officers from the Tucson Police Department responded to a report of a shooting in the 2100 block of East Silvosa Street. Upon arrival, officers located 24-year old Mario Martin Paz in the front yard of a residence suffering from gunshot trauma. Mr. Paz was pronounced dead at the scene.
Responding officers were advised that the suspects had fled on foot. Officers set up a perimeter and conducted a search for the suspects, but none were immediately located.
Homicide detectives discovered that there was a small gathering with family and friends at the residence. At the time of the incident, most the guests were inside the house. The Mr. Paz was speaking with at least three males in the front yard of the residence. The guest inside the house heard shouting and then at least one gunshot from the front yard. They came out to see Mr. Paz down in the front yard suffering from gunshot trauma.
The males that were with Mr. Paz had left the scene.
The relationship between Mr. Paz and the males in the front yard with him is unknown. Anyone with information is encouraged to call 911 or 88-CRIME.
