Three arrested for string of bank robberies

String of bank robberies called “amazing” by authorities

Francisco Lopez, age 22, Shawn Tobias, age 23, and Christina Lopez, age 24 were arrested after law enforcement authorities received an 88-CRIME tip that the three were involved in multiple bank robberies. Tucson Police, Pima County Sheriff’s Office, and Sahuarita Detectives worked together in the arrest of three individuals involved in a string of robberies that occurred across Tucson and Pima County.

SWAT officers responded to an apartment at 6502 East Golf Links Road. After a short standoff, both men exited the apartment and were taken into custody. Ms. Lopez was located later in the evening and taken into custody.

Ms. Lopez is the older sister of Mr. Lopez and girlfriend to Mr. Tobias.

Mr. Lopez was booked into Pima County Jail on 8 counts of Robbery related to the following bank robberies:
• June 25th – Compass Bank inside the Albertsons located at 6363 East 22nd Street
• July 5th – U.S. Bank inside the Safeway located at 1940 East Broadway Boulevard
• July 16th – Compass Bank inside the Albertsons located at 6600 East Grant Road
• July 28th – U.S. Bank inside the Safeway located at 6360 East Golf Links Road
• August 7th – Wells Fargo Bank inside the Safeway located at 8740 East Broadway Boulevard
• August 22nd – U.S. Bank inside the Safeway located at 2140 West Grant Road
• September 5th – U.S. Bank inside the Safeway located at 2140 West Grant Road
• September 6th – Wells Fargo Bank inside Safeway located at 8740 East Broadway Boulevard

Mr. Tobias was booked into Pima County Jail on 3 counts of Robbery related to the following bank robberies:
• September 7th – U.S. Bank inside the Safeway located at 4752 East Sunrise Drive
• September 17th – Compass Bank inside the Albertsons located at 5085 N. La Canada Boulevard
• September 17th – U.S. Bank inside the Safeway located at 260 Continental Vista Place in Sahuarita

Ms. Lopez was booked into the Pima County Jail for 2 counts of Robbery for her involvement in the following bank robberies:
• September 17th – Compass Bank inside the Albertsons located at 5085 N. La Canada Boulevard
• September 17th – U.S. Bank inside the Safeway located at 260 Continental Vista Place in Sahuarita

Detectives are still looking for another suspect involved with Mr. Lopez in the robbery that occurred on September 5th. He is described as an African-American male, 21 to 25 years of age, 5’10” tall, 160 pounds. Anyone with information is urged to call 911 or 88-CRIME.
