David Joseph, Democrat candidate for Arizona House of Representatives in Legislative District 11, is the subject of a complaint filed with the Citizen’s Clean Elections Commission. David allegedly misspent campaign money.
The complaint alleges that Joseph used $9,000 of his primary election funding to conduct general election campaigning, including mailing campaign materials to Republicans. The Pinal County Republican Committee filed the complaint.
Joseph has not yet taken the opportunity to respond to the complaint.
Joseph is running against Republicans Adam Kwasman and state Senator Steve Smith.
Kwasman works as a financial consultant. He earned his master’s degree in Economics from George Mason University, specializing in constitutional economics and economic history. He worked at the Cato Institute’s Center for Constitutional Studies and on Capitol Hill. Adam founded his own economic consulting firm in 2009, advising both private companies and political clients.
Joseph is a consultant with the Regional Transportation Authority of Pima County. He works on the development “ways to enhance their communications and community outreach.”
“This case is just one more example of what is wrong with the Clean Elections system. Candidates get free money and often times bend or break the rules when using these state funds. The system also artificially inflates the amount of money being spent on campaigns and drives up the cost of running for office,” wrote Sam Adams for the Sonoran Alliance. “The liberals always whine about more money for education but they too often seem willing to accept campaign welfare when the money could be better used to fund education in Arizona.”
LD 11 encompasses the northwest side of Tucson, Marana, and northwest to the town of Maricopa in Pinal County.
