Governor signs Declaration of Emergency for Greenlee County

On Friday, Governor Jan Brewer signed a Declaration of Emergency in support of Greenlee County’s efforts to recover from recent storm damage. Heavy rainstorms struck southern Greenlee County, damaging critical infrastructure and eroding large sections of the main road serving the Town of Duncan.

The Greenlee County community has a shortage of equipment and personnel necessary to mitigate damage of this scale. The Greenlee County Board of Supervisors has declared a State of Emergency in order to assist the town.

Governor Brewer is authorized under A.R.S. 26-303(D) to declare a State of Emergency. As a result $100,000 will be released from the General Fund to Greenlee County officials. Additionally, the Declaration directs the following actions:

a) Declares that a State of Emergency exists in Greenlee County due to flooding, effective September 6, 2012; and

b) Directs that the sum of $100,000 from the General Fund be made available to the Director of the Arizona Division of Emergency Management to be expended in accordance with A.R.S. 35-192, A.A.C. R8-2-301 to 321, and Executive Order 79-4; and

c) Directs that the State of Arizona Emergency Response and Recovery Plan be used to maneuver and control State and other assets, and authorizes the Director of the Arizona Division of Emergency Management to coordinate State assets.
