Second suspect in Pima County home invasion arrested

In the early morning of November 6, 2012, detectives with the Pima County Sheriff’s Fugitive Investigative Strike Team (FIST) apprehended another suspect in the home invasion from October 28, 2012, that was caught on surveillance video.

After the first suspect had been captured and was identified as 27-year-old Dominique Tyron Dixon, the home surveillance video was released to the local media. The next morning, tips from the public came in and Pima County Sheriff’s detectives learned that they were dealing with a father-son-duo.

The second suspect caught on the morning of November 6 and was identified as 19-year-old Joey Luis Grajeda. The only perpetrator still on the run is Grajeda’s father identified as Gilbert Grajeda, age 42.

On October 28, 2012, at approximately 4:00 p.m., Pima County deputies responded to the home invasion in the 7700 block of North Stargrass Drive.

After talking to the victims of the home invasion, deputies learned that two individuals had made contact at the front of the residence. They asked if the homeowner needed yard work done and then asked for water. When the victim opened the door, he was overwhelmed by the intruders, beaten and put in a choke hold. The assailant held a gun to the victim’s head and forced him back into the residence. Two females who were also inside the house were forced to the back of the building at gun point by the second suspect, an African-American male. The perpetrators demanded valuables and money. After taking two wallets and a cell phone they left.

Anyone with information on Gilbert Grajeda is urged to call 9-1-1 or 88-CRIME.
