A DPS officer Greg King is recovering following an incident that occurred on December 19th along the eastbound lanes of Interstate 40 near Williams.
Officer King was standing at the right rear of his patrol car assisting another officer with an accident scene when he spotted a semi speeding through the area. The officer signaled to the truck driver to slow down and the man lost control.
Officer King sustained severe internal injuries and was flown to FMC. King was flown to Flagstaff Medical Center with severe internal injuries. DPS said Thursday that he is making great progress and is able to move both arms.
The DPS Vehicular Crimes Unit is investigating the collision. Officials said that the truck driver’s speed and the icy road conditions were likely factors in the accident.
King is a reserve officer who recently retired from DPS. He has been with the agency since 1985.
