A Mexican national wanted on an active felony warrant for murder was apprehended Saturday by Border Patrol agents from the Douglas Station.
Agents apprehended Narcizo Yepiz-Urrea, 29, for being illegally present in the United States. During processing, however, they discovered he was wanted in Phoenix on first-degree murder charges.
Yepiz-Urrea was turned over to the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office to await extradition by U.S. Marshals.
The Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System (IAFIS), used to conduct criminal and immigration checks, allows Border Patrol agents to quickly identify and classify criminal offenders and wanted persons. IAFIS ensures offenders face an appropriate law-enforcement resolution and penalized to the fullest extent of the law.
Details of his alleged crime are not available at this time.
