On February 2, 2013 at 10:32 p.m., Tucson Police Department officers, as well as personnel from the Tucson Fire Department responded to a check welfare call at a residence in the 2200 block of East 19th Street. A male caller advised 911 that he had just arrived home and found his roommate unconscious.
Upon arrival, officers located 59-year old George Martinez inside the residence suffering obvious signs of trauma. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Detectives from the Homicide Unit and the Night Detective Detail responded to continue the investigation. They collected evidence and spoke to the roommate as well as neighbors in the area. They determined that the incident happened sometime during the evening hours. There were no obvious signs of forced entry but Mr. Martinez’s vehicle was taken during the incident. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
Mr. Martinez’s vehicle is described as a white 1994 Ford Explorer with an Arizona license plate of “ACV8135”. A picture of the victims vehicle is included below. Anyone with information on this incident or the location of the vehicle is urged to call 911 or 88-CRIME immediately.
