According to the Sheriff’s Office, it appears the suspect obtained a membership with LA Fitness and used it to gain access to their facilities. Information collected showed that the credit cards were stolen from a locker sometime before 10:00 a.m. The thief quickly began to make purchases using the two stolen cards.
Only 45 minutes went by until the first transaction was made at a local Starbuck’s. It all ended some ten hours and more than $20,000 later at an El Charro’s restaurant. In between, the suspect went on a shopping spree involving electronics, jewelry and men’s underwear purchased at a local Macy’s store. The investigation produced information and leads, including video footage, showing the suspect in action. It seems the suspect also frequented other LA Fitness gyms in the Tucson area and even in Phoenix and Scottsdale.
The suspect is described as a Caucasian male in his mid-forties, approximately 6 feet tall weighing about 220 pounds. He has short receding salt and pepper hair and possibly spoke with a Russian accent.
