Customs and Border Protection officers and a detection canine discovered the drugs, valued at more than $580,000, in the frame of a Ford SUV driven by Guillermo Eleazar Lopez-Rodriguez.
The drugs and vehicle were seized. Lopez was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
Also on Saturday U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Mariposa Port in Nogales seized more than 24 pounds of cocaine.
Officers referred Rafael Balvanedo Anaya-Arce, 37, of Nogales, Sonora, Mexico, for further inspection of his Chevrolet sedan when he attempted to enter the United States. After a CBP narcotics detection canine alerted to the presence of drugs, officers found 10 packages of cocaine throughout the vehicle.
The drugs and vehicle were processed for seizure. Anaya was arrested and turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
