On February 24, 2013 at 5:17 a.m., Tucson Police Department officers responded to a report of a vehicle collision on Grant Road near Interstate 10. Upon arrival, officers located a 2004 Honda Accord and a 2013 Kia Rio which had been involved in a serious collision.
The driver of the Honda Accord was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Kia Rio was transported to a local area hospital with minor injuries.
Detectives determined that the Honda Accord was eastbound on Grant Road just east of Interstate 10. The Kia Rio was westbound on Grant Road and went over the median into the eastbound lanes of Grant Road and struck the Honda Accord head on. Alcohol was a factor in the collision.
The driver of the Honda Accord was identified as 39-year old Steven Williams.
The driver of the Kia Rio was identified as 20-year old Thomas Lancaster. He was booked into the Pima County Jail for one count of 2nd Degree Murder and one count of Felony Criminal Damage.
