On June 1st 2013, at approximately 6:06 p.m., Pima County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the Foothills Mall reference an armed robbery. They received information that a 27-year-old woman was approached by an armed man who demanded money.
She complied with his demands and gave him the money she had. The suspect then fled the scene in a vehicle. Two minutes later the first responding deputy arrived on scene. The victim provided specific information of the suspect to include a detailed description of the vehicle and its license plate.
Deputies coordinated a detailed and targeted area search in an attempt to locate the suspect vehicle. Within minutes the suspect vehicle was spotted and a traffic stop was conducted. A male in his twenties, matching the description provided by the victim was detained, questioned, and later admitted to robbing the woman.
The suspect was booked into the Pima County Adult Detention Center. He was charged with one count of Armed Robbery and one count of Aggravated Assault.
• 6:06 p.m. – 911 call is received/dispatched to deputies.
• 6:08 p.m. – First deputy arrives to victim’s location (at Foothills Mall)
• 6:16 p.m. – Suspect vehicle is located and traffic stop is initiated.
• 6:18 p.m. – Suspect in custody.
The Sheriff’s Office says that the victim in this case was as an excellent witness. The victim complied with the suspect’s demands and remained calm, which allowed her to provide an accurate description of the suspect and the vehicle, according to the Sheriff’s Department.
