Rochester Police contacted and worked in conjunction with the Tucson Police Department’s Internet Crimes Against Children Unit (ICAC) to locate the suspect in this investigation. On June 12, 2013, the TPD ICAC Unit served a search warrant at the suspect’s residence in the 4200 block of North 1st Avenue.
During the search of the residence, detectives discovered multiple videos depicting child pornography. They also obtained evidence of the suspect’s communication with the young girl in Minnesota.
Detectives arrested 67-year old Gary Duane Keith for his involvement in the incident. He was booked into the Pima County Jail for 4 counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor. Further charges are pending at this time.
Detectives also discovered that Mr. Keith has assisted in youth ministry at a local church here in Tucson. The Tucson Police Department is concerned that Keith may have had inappropriate contact with other juveniles. Anyone with information is urged to contact 911 or 88-CRIME.
This successful investigation between the Rochester Police Department and the Tucson Police Department shows the abilities of Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force to work across state lines to protect children online and hold offenders accountable.
The Tucson Police Department urges parents to continually monitor their children’s Facebook and any other Social Media Accounts they have access to. Knowing and monitoring your child’s online friends, connections and conversation is crucial for their safety.
