Flake, McCain end debate on Corker-Hoeven amendment

While the Gateway Pundit is reporting that Arizona Senators Jeff Flake and John McCain are facing Arizona residents who are calling for a recall for supporting the immigration-amnesty bill, another border state senator, Ted Cruz, blasted the Gang of 8’s compromise measure which passed in a Senate vote of 67-27 on Monday.

Cruz said the plan does “…nothing more than throw money at the problem” Critics complained that the Senate was voting on the 119-page proposal before having a chance to analyze it.

Cruz said they “…dropped a 1200 page bill on us and told us that we had to pass it to know what is in it.”

“Everyone wants to fix our broken immigration system, but we shouldn’t be replicating the mistakes of the past. The Corker-Hoeven amendment and Gang of Eight bill grant immediate legalization and, just as we saw in 1986, the border security changes will never be implemented, and the border will not be secured.”

An immigration overhaul, that would legalize millions of undocumented immigrants while boosting border security, passed a major test in the Senate on Monday as lawmakers voted to advance a compromise measure despite resistance from some Republicans.

Cruz urged the “…American people to stand up and call your senators and that’s how we can stop this law. Cruz said there were 20 senators who hadn’t decided how to vote on the law yet.

Flake and McCain joined all 52 Democratic senators to close debate on the amendment.
