Pima County deputy injured, shooter killed at northwest store

At approximately 10:55 p.m. on Saturday , Pima County deputies responded to a suspicious person with a firearm at the Circle K located at 4395 N. Romero Road. Deputy Jesus Davila, who was the first to arrive, entered the store and made contact with the suspicious person, identified as 41-year-old Alvin McBride.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, deputy Davila spoke to Alvin McBride for a brief period when a struggle ensued. During the struggle, Alvin McBride produced a firearm and shot deputy Davila in the leg. Deputy Davila and Alvin McBride went down on the floor where the struggle continued. Deputy Davila drew his weapon and fatally shot Alvin McBride. Alvin McBride was pronounced deceased at the scene. Deputy Davila was transported to an area hospital and is currently in stable condition.

Deputy Jesus Davila has been a member of the Sheriff’s Department since October 2007.
