On August 2, 2013, Mexican authorities arrested 28-year-old Reyes Jovany Miranda, a U.S.citizen, who was wanted for the 2011 death of 25-year-old Ramon Jesus Steele.
In June 2011, Ramon Steele was one of two passengers in a vehicle driven by Reyes Miranda that collided with a tree in the 2300 block of West Drexel Road. Reyes Miranda fled the scene on foot, leaving his two injured passengers in the vehicle. Ramon Steele died from the injuries he received during the collision and the other passenger survived.
The Sheriff’s Department Fugitive Investigative Strike Team in conjunction with the U.S.Marshal Arizona Wanted Task Force received Reyes Miranda from Mexican authorities at approximately 9:30 p.m., and transported him to the Pima County Adult Detention Center.
Reyes Miranda was booked on one count each of the following charges:
- Leaving the Scene of an Accident Involving Death
- Manslaughter
- Aggravated Assault
