Obama “missed an opportunity,” greeted by protestors and fans

According to Congressman Paul Gosar, President Obama “missed an opportunity” during his visit to Arizona on Tuesday.

The congressman said the president missed an opportunity “to acknowledge that his failed economic policies have done little to create jobs and to understand that immigration reform must start with border security. Rather than listen to Arizonans who want the government out of the way of economic growth and immigration reform that secures our border, President Obama used his trip to lecture.”

Rep. Gosar continued in a statement issued shortly after the president’s visit, “Jumpstarting this economy and putting people back to work begins with pro-growth policies, not suffocating EPA regulations that increase energy costs or the tax-hike that is Obamacare. I will continue to work hard on behalf of Arizonans who want real economic growth and a secure border.”

The president was greeted by protestors outside of Desert Vista High School in Phoenix. They held signs that read:”Secure our borders, No amnesty, No A.C.A., “OPHONY” and “Impeach.”

The signs referred to the president’s proposed amnesty plan and health care program

The president outlined his refinancing proposals that have not been popular on Capitol Hill when he first unveiled them last year. He hoped to win public support for his call for expanding refinancing eligibility for homeowners who do not have government-backed mortgages.

The president touted immigration reform as a stimulant for the housing market. According to the administration, immigrants accounted for 40 percent of new homeowners nationwide between 2000 and 2010.

The president avoided areas south of Phoenix such as Tucson which is the country’s 6th poorest metropolitan area.

Instead he focused on Phoenix where the housing market has rebounded in recent months.
