A Wellton, Arizona man is in custody after a failed attempt to smuggle more than 11 pounds of meth into the United States through the Port of San Luis on Friday.
Customs and Border Protection officers referred Juan Ramon Luna, 39, for 1nspection of his Chevrolet sedan when he attempted to enter the United States after a CBP narcotics detection canine alerted to the presence of drugs. Subsequently officers removed 11 packages of meth valued at $177,320 from the vehicle’s rocker panels.
The drugs and vehicle were seized. Luna was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
