Tucson man arrested for child sexual assault

On the afternoon of August 19, 2013, the Tucson Police Department was contacted about a sexual assault incident.  Officers initially responded to the residence in the 800 block of West Santa Maria to begin the investigation.

After learning that the victim was a juvenile female, detectives from the Child Sexual Assault Unit also responded to assist with the investigation. During the course of the investigation, detectives learned that the description of the adult male suspect involved in the sexual assault incident was similar to that of a male who was suspected in several shoplifting incidents from various Circle K stores. Further investigation led detectives to obtain the license plate of a vehicle believed to be associated with the suspect. The vehicle was also similar in description to what the juvenile, female victim of the sexual assault provided when speaking with detectives about the suspect.

The investigation continued, and the suspect of both the sexual assault and the shoplifting incidents was ultimately identified as 28-year-old Peter Isaac Trujillo. On the afternoon of August 22, 2013, officers located both Trujillo and the vehicle in a shopping center in the 5500 block of South 12th Avenue.

Trujillo was arrested on two charges: 1 count of Sexual Assault (class 2 felony) and 1 count of First Degree Burglary (class 2 felony), in relation to the sexual assault incident. Trujillo was also charged separately for several counts of Shoplifting, a class 1 misdemeanor. He was transported and booked into the Pima County Jail.
