Representative Ron Barber, in taped remarks, praised Agent Terry and his service to the nation – first, as a member of the U.S. Marines and then, as a Border Patrol agent. Terry was slain in the line of duty in December 2010.
Barber also detailed Giffords’ work to secure the border when she was a member of Congress. She introduced the Southwest Border Security Bill that resulted in a $600 million emergency appropriation to put more agents, technology and other assets on the nation’s southern border.
Agent Terry was honored earlier this year in his home state of Michigan. A Border patrol boat was christened in his honor.
The evening was hosted by Fox News commentator, Katie Pavlich, a University of Arizona graduate, who got her start in radio on Tucson’s Jon Justice Show. Pavlich is the author of the definitive book on the failed gun running scheme known as Fast and Furious. Agent Terry was murdered with one of the government’s guns used by drug smugglers.
