Pima County is offering a reward of $2,500 for information leading to the arrest of the person or persons who broke into the Pima County Native Plant Nursery last month and destroyed thousands of plants by dousing them with herbicide chemicals.
The vandalism that targeted approximately 90 percent of the mature nursery stock, valued at more than $34,000, took place over the weekend of Sept. 14-15.
Individuals have stepped forward to contribute money specific to the inventory recovery of the Native Plant Nursery. Those hoping to assist may make checks out to the Pima County Parklands Foundation with a note that donated dollars should be applied to the Native Plant Nursery.
Those donations may be mailed or dropped off at Pima County Natural Resources, Parks and Recreation Department, 3500 W. River Road, Tucson 85741.
