Suspect arrested for Ontario Street shooting

Detectives from the Tucson Police Department Gang Investigations Unit identified the suspect and motive associated with the shooting death of Roger Catalan on the late evening of October 7, 2013, in the 1200 block of W. Ontario Street.

Through the course of their investigation, they successfully identified the shooter as 29-year-old Samuel Beltran. The detectives obtained a warrant for Beltran on October 9, 2013. Personnel from the United States Marshal’s Service Arizona Wanted Task Force located and apprehended Beltran on October 10, 2013.

Beltran was arrested and charged with one count of First Degree Murder pursuant to the arrest warrant. The investigation continues as the detectives continue working to further identify other persons involved in the incident.
