“Operation Tin Man” nets 14 in car theft ring

Law enforcement agencies paricipating in “Operation Tin Man” served search warrants across the state of Arizona on Wednesday. Federal and loal authorities in Phoenix, Tucson and Coolidge, served the warants after a 15-month auto theft organization investigation.

Fourteen people have been taken into custody, inlcuding members of the Hendrix family, which own four of the five businesses raided.

According DPS offiials the family business was aiding and abeting car thieves. They facilitated the thieve, who then shipped the cars overseas.

The Phoenix Police Department, Pima County Sheriff’s Office, tPinal County Sheriff’s Office, Glendale Police Department, Goodyear Police Department, and the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality and the Arizona Department of Weights and Measures partiipated in the effort to uncover the ring.
