On November 8, at 7:12 a.m., the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a two vehicle collision near the intersection of Highway 95 and Avenue 4E.
The vehicles involved were a silver 2003 Jeep and a Yuma School District One bus. Both vehicles were traveling east bound on Highway 95 at the time of the collision. The initial investigation revealed that the jeep was slowing down in an attempt to make a right turn when the bus collided with the rear end of the jeep. The jeep came to a stop in a nearby field. The bus continued and crossed the west bound lane where it struck the guardrail, coming to a stop in a field on the north side of Highway 95.
The Yuma District One bus was operated by Mr. Isidro Romero of Somerton, Arizona. Fortunately, there were no children on the bus at the time of the collision.
All subjects refused medical attention. The driver of the bus was cited for failure to control the vehicle.
