Tucson man killed in El Tour de Tucson

Officials with the Arizona Department of Public Safety report that a 59 year old Tucson man, John Henderson, was struck and killed by a driver while he was riding in El Tour de Tucson.

The accident occurred in the area of the Interstate 10 frontage road and West Sunset Road. Mr. Henderson was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene, but was transported to an area hospital for unknown reasons.

The driver struck Mr. Henderson from behind at approximately 5:20 p.m.
