When the fire department and deputies arrived at the home near the intersection of Paseo Del Sol and Henness Road, the home was fully engulfed. Calls were made to the Casa Grande Fire Department and the Gila River Fire Department to assist with fighting the fire.
As the firefighters were fighting the fire, deputies began talking to neighbors to try and determine who lived at the home. Neighbors said a husband, wife and their 11-year-old son all lived at the home. The neighbors described the family vehicles and both vehicles were still at home.
Investigators were able to enter a portion of the home, and two bodies were found. Due to the damage done to the home by the fire, it will take time to process the scene and investigate the cause of the fire.
Sheriff Paul Babeu stated, “At this time, detectives and fire investigators are in the early stages of the investigation. The body of an adult and child has been located. The bodies were badly burned and their identities and cause of death will need to be determined by the medical examiner’s office. This is an extremely traumatic event especially so close to the holidays.”
