DPS to exercise “Courteous Vigilance” this holiday

During this holiday season, Arizona Department of Public Safety will continue what they call “Courteous Vigilance,” by patrolling Arizona’s highways for stranded motorists, violations related to seatbelt usage, speed, impairment, and all dangerous driving behaviors.

DPS is encouraging motorists to be fully prepared for road trips by obtaining sufficient rest and carrying necessary supplies, including emergency food and water along with cold and wet weather clothing. Motorists should also make sure key components on their vehicle are in safe working order prior to embarking on a trip.

Recommended equipment to keep in a vehicle are snow chains, a shovel, tools, flashlights, first aid gear, and communication devices.
