Reid Park Zoo lion gives birth to 4 cubs

On December 23rd, a keeper at the Reid Park Zoo confirmed that the lion “Kaya” had given birth. Kaya and male lion “Shombay” are the parents of four new cubs–three male and one female.

This is Kaya and Shombay’s second litter; they had three cubs in 2011 that have all gone to different zoos. The cubs are being cared for by mom and the Zoo’s keeper and vet staff, and will not be on exhibit for 6-8 weeks.
