Beginning today, and running through Monday, March 3, Tucson Water will be removing and replacing fiber optic acoustic monitoring equipment on a 66” water main located under Greasewood Rd., from Starr Pass Blvd. to Ironwood Hills Rd., and on a 48” water main located under 3rd Ave., from 26th St. to Lester St.
The work will require dewatering the pipelines, leading to traffic and parking restrictions at several locations in order for crews to access manholes. Barricades are planned for:
• Greasewood Rd. and Starr Pass Blvd., south side
• Greasewood Rd. and Anklam Rd. intersection
• Greasewood Rd., various shoulder locations
• 3rd Ave., between 5th and 6th Streets and between 7th and 8th Streets
• 3rd Ave and University Blvd., northeast corner
• 3rd Ave., north of Mabel St.
• 3rd Ave., north of 1st St.
Tucson Water is also expected to perform any necessary internal pipeline repairs. Staff, contractors, and equipment will be at various locations at different times. Precautions will be taken to prevent water from entering roadways.
