Two arrested for Avra Valley burglary

On January 25, 2014, at approximately 10:30 a.m., Tucson Mountain District deputies responded to a burglary in the 15,800 block of W. Scrub Brush Road, which is south of Magee and west of Picture Rocks. Deputies learned a suspicious individual was seen walking away from the incident location as they were arriving.

The deputies searched the area and located a male matching the description provided by the witness. Joseph Parker, age 30, initially denied any involvement in the burglary. However, deputies determined Parker was involved in the burglary and took him into custody.

Detectives from the Sheriff’s Department Burglary Unit responded and took over the investigation. Burglary detectives gathered additional information that lead to a second suspect and a search warrant in the 14,900 block of W. Scrub Brush Road. Items taken during the burglary were located at that location, as well as other possible stolen articles.

The additional suspect, identified as 36-year-old Matthew Nieto, was taken into custody by Tucson Mountain Directed Patrol Unit deputies on January 31, 2014. Mr. Parker and Mr. Nieto were booked into the Pima County Adult Detention Center on Second Degree Burglary.

Burglary detectives are investigating to see if Parker and Nieto were involved in other burglaries in the area.
