Pima County thieves posing as magazine salesmen

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department has recently been made aware of two separate incidences where a person, posing as a magazine salesperson, stole from homeowners. During these incidences, a person claiming to sell magazines asked the homeowners to allow them to enter the home claiming to be cold and needing to use a restroom.

The homeowners allowed the scammer into their home. The suspect used the restroom and in one occasion asked for a glass of water. After the suspect left, the homeowners noticed that their wallets and a checkbook were missing.

There is no particular person of interest or description of the suspect at this time. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department is reminding the public that it is never a good idea to allow strangers into their home.
