Public encouraged to address Pima County roads failures

According to Pima County Department of Transportation, 72% of the roads in District 1 are in poor or failed condition. As a result, Pima County Supervisor Ally Miller has placed an item on the supervisor’s agenda to address the County’s failure to fund road repair.

At the Board of Supervisors Meeting Agenda this coming Tuesday, February 18, 2014, Miller will ask the County to identify spending reductions in the current Pima County budget in an effort to increase the pavement preservation and road repair funding allocation. Discussion/Vote. (District 1)

Miler says this Tuesday’s meeting provides an opportunity for the public to speak out.

“I need you to show up and speak on this issue,” Miller told constituents. “Let the Board of Supervisors know that you demand cuts to non-essential programs in order to fund desperately needed repairs to our core infrastructure. Our roads are a disaster!”

According to Miller, the board meeting begins promptly at 9:00 a.m. at the Pima County administration building at 130 W. Congress. The closest parking is the El Presidio Parking Garage directly under the El Presidio Park. Access is available from Pennington Street or Alameda Street.

Speakers must fill out a green Speaker Card before they can address the Board. Miller will have a staff member at the entrance to assist constituents in filling out the card to speak on this issue.
