Pima County collision sends 2 to hospital

On February 24, 2014, at approximately 12:10 p.m., Pima County deputies responded to a vehicle collision at La Cholla Boulevard and Sunset Road. When deputies arrived, they learned a southbound sport utility vehicle collided with an eastbound passenger car that failed to yield from a stop sign.

The car was occupied by the driver and three passengers. The passengers in the rear seat did not suffer any known injuries. The 54-year-old passenger in the front seat was transported by ambulance to a trauma center with non-life-threatening injuries. The 58-year-old driver of the car was transported by ambulance to a trauma center with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the sport utility vehicle was not injured.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department Traffic Unit responded and is handling the investigation.
