Tucson League of Women Voters to hold free workshops

The League of Women Voters of Greater Tucson is presenting two free workshops in March and April. The first one, “Planning Forums,” demonstrates that a candidate or issue forum doesn’t “just happen,” it takes a lot of decision making and planning well ahead of time.

The public is invited to learn the steps in producing a successful event for your club or organization. Attendees will find out about working with other groups, deciding staffing, location, publicity, formats, etc. This workshop will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2014, from 9:30 AM-1PM at the Pima County Housing Center, 801 W. Congress St. (1/4 mile west of I-10).

The second workshop, on “How to Moderate,” will be on Saturday, April 5, 2014. If your organization is planning a panel discussion, a forum, or a candidate debate, you are invited to come and learn the tips and techniques on how to make everything run smoothly, with everyone following the rules and being civil to one another. This will be held at the Murphy-Wilmot Branch Library, 530 N. Wilmot Road in Tucson from 9:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Light refreshments will be available at both of these workshops. The League is asking attendees to register so they will have enough materials for everyone. Call 520-740-5779 or 520-326-3018 or email lwvgt@aol.com.
