Amado three-year-old shoots self

On March 3, 2014, at approximately 12:40 p.m., Pima County Sheriff deputies in the Green Valley District responded to a call about a three-year-old male who was the victim of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the lower torso. The child was flown by Lifeline to the trauma center, where he was immediately taken into surgery.

The child survived the surgery and is currently in stable condition. The Sheriff’s Department Homicide Unit and Crimes Against Children Unit responded to the scene in the 26,900 block of South Monarch Way in Amado, due to a child being involved in a traumatic shooting.

The incident is under investigation.
