Public invited to D-M for ‘Thunder and Lightning over Arizona’

Many Tucsonans are calling their elected representatives asking them to do all they can to save D-M, which is an integral part of the community. This month, members of the community are invited to Davis Monthan’s 2014 ‘Thunder and Lightning over Arizona’ Open House April 12-13, to see first hand how vital the base is to our Southern Arizona.

The base will open its doors for this free event to showcase military air power and express appreciation for the local community’s continuous support of D-M’s missions.

The Open House will feature exciting aerial demonstrations, numerous static displays, and a performance by the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds. Those attending will also have the chance to talk to D-M’s dedicated Airmen and gain a better understanding of your Air Force and Davis-Monthan.

Local citizens may enter the base through Swan and Craycroft gates beginning at 9 a.m. on both April 12th and 13th.

Aerial demonstrations will begin at 11 a.m. and the Thunderbirds will perform at 2 p.m. Inbound traffic for the Open House will be halted at approximately 2 p.m.

There will be 14 aerial demonstrations including B-25 and P-51 flybys, a demo by the Air Force Academy Wings of Blue Parachute Team, the Red Bull Helicopter and a performance by the Dessert Lighting Team.
