On Monday, March 17th, 2014 at 4:30 p.m. the mother of a four-year-old female child reported that Zachary Johns, age 30, of Mesa, had molested her child. The mother reported that Zachary was a family friend who had been living in their home near East Hunt Highway and North Gary Road from July 2013 through December 2013. During that timeframe, Zachary had alleged showered with her young daughter; kissed her daughter, put his tongue in her daughter’s mouth and had her daughter perform oral sex on him. The child had recently disclosed these allegations to her parents.
Detectives from our Criminal Investigations Bureau immediately began to work this case. The child was interviewed and disclosed these same details to investigators.
On Monday, March 31st, 2014 Zachary was contacted and admitted to molesting the young victim. He said that he was under the influence of alcohol and prescription drugs at the time.
Zachary Johns was arrested and booked into the Pinal County Jail for Child Molestation.
Sheriff Paul Babeu stated, “Zachary Johns betrayed the trust of this victim and her family. He then tried to blame the young victim for what occurred. There is no excuse to ever inappropriately touch a child. Zachary is a sexual predator who is now behind bars where he belongs.”
