Speed a factor in Tucson teen’s fatal rollover

On April 12, 2014, at approximately 6:50 p.m., Pima County deputies responded to a single vehicle rollover in the 17900 block of South Houghton Road. When deputies arrived, they learned two teenagers were travelling northbound on Houghton Road at a high rate of speed.

The 17-year-old driver lost control of the vehicle causing it to roll over. Neither the driver nor the passenger was wearing a seatbelt. The driver, identified as Devlen Crown, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The 18-year-old passenger was transported by ambulance to the trauma center with non-life threatening injuries. The Sheriff’s Department Traffic Unit responded and took over the investigation. Speed was a factor in the collision.
