Update -PCSO is seeking the public’s help in locating 14-year-old Esparanza Casillas

Esperanza Casillas has been located. She was found at approximately 9:15 a.m. on April 17, 2014 near Midvale Park Road and Argyle Avenue. The investigation into where 14-year-old Esperanza has been since April 15, 2014 is ongoing.

Detectives investigating the disappearance of 14-year-old Esperanza Casillas, have developed further information suggesting that she may be willfully running away from home. Esperanza went to a local hair salon near Cardinal Avenue and Valencia Road at approximately 10:30 a.m. yesterday and got a substantial amount of her hair cut. She now looks different than she did in her original picture. Esperanza is no longer wearing her glasses and she was last seen wearing a flannel shirt.

By releasing these new pictures, detectives are hoping someone might recognize Esperanza and call 9-1-1 or 88-CRIME.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department is seeking the public’s help in locating 14-year-old Esparanza Casillas.

Esparanza was last seen leaving her family home to walk to school at approximately 8:35 a.m. on April 15, 2014. Esparanza attends Pistor Middle School, which is in the area of West Drexel Road and South Cardinal Avenue. Her family member went to pick her up from track practice around 7:30 p.m., and was told that she had not been at school all day. Family and law enforcement have been unable to locate her thus far. She does not have any known medical or mental health issues.

Esparanza is described as:

• 14-years-old

• Hispanic female

• 5’ 3” in height

• 128 pounds

• Brown eyes and long black hair

Esparanza was last seen wearing:

• A grey uniform polo shirt

• Brown pants

• Black shoes

• A white backpack

The Sheriff’s Department Crimes Against Children Unit is currently trying to identify the whereabouts of Esparanza Casillas. There is no evidence of a potential abduction at this point, however the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information regarding her location is urged to call 88-CRIME or 9-1-1.
