Tucson K-9 officer sniffs out 2 fugitives in 2 days

On April 16, 2014, at 1:00 a.m., a K-9 officer was able to obtain information regarding the whereabouts of a wanted fugitive in the area of Mission and Irvington. The fugitive was last seen driving a white Honda Civic. A team of officers were assembled to scan the area in an effort to locate the fugitive. After a diligent search and help of the Air Support unit the fugitive was located with the vehicle and taken into custody. His warrant was confirmed. He was later transported to the Pima County Jail where he was booked.

The very next day at 1:30 a.m.,the same K-9 officer developed information about the location of another wanted fugitive near the Kia/Lexus dealership at Speedway and Columbus. The K-9 officer coordinated tactics around the dealership and was able to detain the fugitive after he attempted to hide underneath a vehicle and in-between a building. The fugitive’s warrant was confirmed and he was transported to the

Pima County Jail and booked. This K-9 officer exemplified the meaning of proactive policing and team work. With his determination and expertise he was able to coordinate the arrests of two fugitives, making the streets of Tucson a much safer place.
