Crews fight fire near Mule Pass Tunnel

The fire two miles west of the Mule Pass Tunnel on Highway 80 ws estimated to be 12 acres in size, according to Cochise County Sheriff Dannels. State land fire crews, along with firefighters from four other areas were on the scene Thursday night.

Dannels reports that fire crews from Naco, Bisbee, Elfrida and Tombstone were joined by state land crews, assessing the direction, growth, and accessibility of the fire and surrounding area throughout Thursday evening.

The fire was reported at about 6:30 p.m. Crews gathered at mile post 335 on Highway 80 to fight the fire on the west side of the highway, and on the back side of a hill.
