Second suspect arrested in Palo Verde Bar shooting

On May 11, 2014, at approximately 6:00 p.m., 27-year-old Rolando Roman Sanchez, the second suspect sought in the shooting at the Palo Verde Bar and Grill, was taken into custody.

Following up on a tip from the Tucson Police Department, Sheriff’s Department detectives arrested Rolando Sanchez in the 900 block of South 5th Avenue.

Rolando Sanchez was transported to the Pima County Adult Detention Center and booked on one count each of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Misconduct Involving a Weapon/Prohibited Possessor.

On April 25, 2014, 35-year-old Rene Bravo, the first suspect in the Palo Verde Bar and Grill assault, turned himself in at the Pima County Adult Detention Center.

On April 19, at approximately 1:45 a.m., Pima County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a shooting at the bar. When deputies arrived, they learned two males and a female were attacked as they were leaving the bar following a birthday party. During the attack, two men pulled out pistols and fired at the victims. After the shots were fired, the physical assault on the victims continued for a short time.

The two males, ages 36 and 31, were transported to the trauma center with serious but non-life threatening injures. The 27-year-old female was also transported to the trauma center with non-life threatening injuries

Bravo was booked on the following charges:

• Attempted First Degree Murder
• Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon
• Aggravated Assault with Serious Physical Injury
• Misconduct Involving Weapons; Prohibited Possessor
