Cox Cable man impersonator sought by TPD

On the morning of May 28, 2014 a man entered the backyard of a residence in the 1700 block of East Saint Bernadine Street, wearing a tan shirt with tan pants and had a COX Cable I.D. card on a lanyard around his neck. The I.D. card read,“COX Employee,” but there was no name and no picture on the card.

When the subject approached the backdoor of the residence the female home owner confronted him. The subject stated he was with COX Cable and was there for a service call. When she advised that she did not call for service, the subject pushed the door open, forcing her back into the home. The victim struggled with subject and he ran out of the residence. The subject was gone prior to police arrival.

The subject was described as a White male in his early 30’s, 5’8, 160 to 170 pounds with sandy blond hair.

The Tucson Police Department is encouraging citizens to ask for picture I.D. from anyone representing a utility company or any other business while at your home. If you are still suspicious about an individual, please call the business to verify or call 911.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call 911 or 88-CRIME.
