According to the Sheriff’s Department, detectives learned the Border Patrol agents pursued Arambula on foot for approximately one quarter mile, before Agent Marquez fired his service weapon nine times at Arambula, striking him once.
Arambula abandoned his vehicle carrying 21 bales of marijuana weighing nearly 500 pounds near the Torres Blancas golf course when he fled from agents. Sheriff’s Department officials say that Arambula made a motion that looked like something someone who was holding a gun might make. Arambula was found to be unarmed.
in April, Arambula had been arrested on drug-related charges.
