Nogales CBP seize $485K of hard drugs

A weekend seizure of methamphetamine and heroin at the Port of Nogales totals nearly 69 pounds of drugs valued at approximately $485,000.

Forty four packages of methamphetamine are among the weekend seizure of hard drugs at the mariposa crossing of the Port of Nogales Fourty-four packages of methamphetamine with an estimated value of more than $131,000 found inside the mufflers of a Kenworth tractor.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Mariposa crossing referred a 27-year-old Mexican national for additional inspection of a Kenworth tractor on Saturday. Officers removed the smoke stack mufflers and found drugs concealed within the ends of both mufflers. Inside, there were 44 packages of methamphetamine with a weight of nearly 44 pounds with an estimated value of more than $131,000. In addition, there were four packages of black tar heroin and six packages of brown heroin, with a total weight of more than 25 pounds and a value in excess of $354,000.

The vehicles and drugs were seized. The driver was referred to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
