Border Patrol agents rescue man from burning vehicle

Tucson Sector Border Patrol agents rescued a man after his vehicle caught fire following an apparent tire blowout on I-19 earlier this week.

At approximately 1p.m. on Monday, agents from the Nogales station responded to a citizen’s report that a single vehicle accident occurred north of the I-19 checkpoint. Upon arrival, agents saw the vehicle on fire. The male driver appeared to be injured and could not open the door. One agent broke the car window, pulled the man from the vehicle and rendered first aid while the other agent attempted to put out the fire until Tubac Fire and Rescue and the Arizona Department of Public Safety arrived. The man was flown via Life Flight to a Tucson hospital.

According to Border Patrol, agents are often called upon to shift from law enforcement to rescue mode in an instant.

In recent weeks, they have been pulled away from the border to take care of children housed in the Nogales Station. According to sources, agents have used their own money to buy clothes and other items for the children. At the same time, agents have been subjected to disease and politicians.
