On the night of Thursday June 19, 2014 the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office was advised of shots fired on a roadway ¼ mile from Highway 82 off of Sanders Road in Whetstone.

The caller advised that his daughters ex-boyfriend had stopped him on the roadway by pulling in front of and partially blocking the way. The caller advised that he told the male subject to stay away from his family and his property, when the ex-boyfriend retrieved a gun from his car and reportedly fired several rounds at the caller as he was driving away.

Sheriff’s Deputies arrived at a residence on Old Church Road in Whetstone and met with the victim who stated that this subject had vandalized his vehicles in the past and he never reported the damage. Sheriff’s Deputies observed a bullet hole in the trunk of the vehicle and noted that a 40 caliber round had passed through the trunk, travelled towards the driver, and stopped short of entering the cabin by a cross beam near the rear seat area inside the trunk. There were no injuries reported in this incident.

The victim identified the suspect as 22 year old Alac Durbin of Huachuca City.

Sheriff Deputies began a search for the suspect with the assistance of the Huachuca City Police Departments. The suspect was located in Sierra Vista and was taken into custody without incident.

The suspect was booked into the Cochise County Jail on the following charges:
Endangerment
